Rain was falling Thursday morning in the Bay Area, part of a cold front accompanied by scattered but steady showers.

Sunshine is expected to return by the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

The forecast for the Tahoe area called for showers Thursday afternoon into Friday morning, with about a 25% chance of thunderstorms.
