OAKLAND — A man was killed Monday morning when he was struck by a BART train on the tracks south of the Fruitvale station, shutting down the station for more than two hours, authorities said.
No other information was immediately released about the man killed.
The fatality happened around 6:20 a.m. Monday. Authorities were investigating to try to determine why the man was on the tracks.
BART said the station reopened about 8:28 a.m. and that trains has slowly resumed normal service after some residual delays.
Service on the Green Line, which runs between Daly City and Berryessa/North San Jose, was stopped while police investigated, officials said.
AC Transit provided parallel bus service between the Coliseum and Lake Merritt stations, and BART was alerting riders about other connections while police investigated.
