Colleen Ann (Renal) Shreffler1951-2025

Our beloved Colleen passed away after a long illness on 10/25/25. Colleen was an amazing daughter, mom, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She graduated from Woodside High School in Woodside, CA in 1969 and subsequently worked at Pampro Plastics, and then Safeway for several years.

She married and lived in Boulder Creek, where her son was born. The young family moved to Belgium for her husband’s work, and they lived there for several years, enjoying numerous travel experiences in Europe and around the world. While in Belgium, they welcomed their daughter.

Once back in Boulder Creek, she continued her new career as a stay-at-home-mom. Once her children had grown, she became a special education teacher’s aid in Palo Alto. She was passionate about working with children from kindergarten to high school. When she retired and became a grandmother, she welcomed the opportunity to help her daughter and son-in-law take care of their children while they completed their education. She loved her children and grandchildren beyond measure.

She enjoyed family gatherings, hosting many of them herself. She was a wicked Scrabble player and became a master of Sodoku in her later years.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Eileen and Victor Renal; her brother, Dennis Renal; and her nephew, Daniel Renal. She is survived by her son, Joshua Shreffler and his wife Kym Bausch; daughter Janna Shreffler Perez and husband Jason Perez; grandchildren Skye Perez and Gavin Perez; sisters, Maureen Travers, (Dana), Eileen Giammona (Ciro), Kathleen Renal; brother Shawn Renal, former husband, Phillip Shreffler; and her many nieces and nephews.
