William Joseph Bing OBITUARY

William Joseph Bing OBITUARY

William “Bill” J. Bing was born on September 16, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, to Helen and Alton Bing, and grew up alongside his beloved sister, Marcia. He attended Toledo University, where he earned his business degree in 1958. That same year, he married the love of his life, Arlene Swiergosz, beginning a partnership that would span more than six remarkable decades.

Bill and Arlene began their family in the Midwest, welcoming five children: Brian, Carolyn, Cathilyn, Bradley, and Christie. In 1973, they made the adventurous move to California, settling in Saratoga just as Silicon Valley was taking shape. Bill thrived in the fast-growing technology industry, contributing his energy and expertise in sales to pioneering companies including AMS, Intel, Zilog, and Motorola.

Though Bill’s career often required travel, he always prioritized creating special memories with his family. He delighted in planning vacations across the country–treasured journeys filled with laughter, learning, and a shared appreciation of America’s beauty.

In 1999, Bill and Arlene relocated to The Villages Golf & Country Club in San Jose, where they embraced community life. Bill dedicated more than ten years of service as a member of the Board and valued the friendships he made along the way.

A devoted Catholic, Bill lived his faith through service to others, his love for his family, and the warmth he brought to every room. He enjoyed playing tennis, walking the neighborhood trails, and spending time with his nine grandchildren–Jason, Lindsay, Jacob, Jennifer, Daniel, Kyle, Casey, Colton, and Camryn–who brought him tremendous joy. In more recent years, as his health slowed him down, he found comfort in reading, watching his grandchildren play high school and college sports, following his favorite college and professional sports teams, & staying closely connected to those he cherished.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Arlene, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of love and partnership; his children and their spouses; Brian & Anita, Carolyn & Jim, Cathi & Bill, and Chris & Clay; and his nine adored grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Bradley, whose memory remains forever in their hearts. His legacy of kindness, dedication, faith, and family devotion will continue to shine through generations.

He will be deeply missed.
