William Carey Fitch OBITUARY

William Carey Fitch OBITUARY

Bill Fitch died at home in Santa Cruz. Sue, his wife of 56 years, was at his side.

Bill and Sue traveled the world together. They visited every state in the union except Maine. They don’t know how they missed Maine. But they did visit Puerto Rico.

Bill also took his children – Marina, Dan, Susan, and Aaron – on lengthy excursions by plane, train, scooter, automobile, ship, kayak, motorcycle, and on foot. His grandchildren Flannery, Skye, and Dakota were drafted for trips. Son-in-laws Mark Budz, Steve Davies, and daughter-in-law Deanna also came along.

The family thoroughly enjoy spending time together. Bill also got along with his first wife, Marilyn.

Bill Fitch was born in Salinas. At age eight he moved to Los Gatos, where he would live much of his life. He attended Alma Elementary School – now Lexington Reservoir; University Avenue School – now the Old Town shopping center; and graduated from Los Gatos High in 1956. Bill enrolled at San Jose State, graduating and passing the CPA exam at age 21, the youngest in California at the time. For the next 55 years, he worked as an accountant and developer.

A celebration of Bill Fitch’s life will be held on Monday, Dec. 29 at 11am at La Posada Retirement Community, 609 Frederick St. in Santa Cruz. If you have a story to tell about Bill, we would love for you to come and share and celebrate with us.
